Staff Attendance
Regular staff attendance is critical to student success. All staff members are expected to report to work on time every day.
If you know that you must be out ahead of time...
You should email Ms. O'Meara, Ms. Parker and Ms. Southerland with the date and time and put the absence in AESOP. When you know you'll be out in advance, you can often get a substitute teacher that you think does good work, so make sure to contact someone you trust and get them to take the sub position for that day.
If you fall ill or have an emergency the night before or morning of...
Work Hours
All teachers are expected to arrive at school by 7:45 a.m. Teachers on duty should report to their duty station by 8:00 a.m. You will need to sign in during required workdays for time, etc.
Teachers will remain at school until 3:45 pm unless an after school meeting has been scheduled. In case of personal emergencies, the principal may approve a request for an individual to leave early.
All classified employees will be required to work eight (8) hours per day unless different work hours were established upon initial employment. Classified employees who drive a bus will be paid extra pay only for the time beyond their eight-hour work day. Example: In a situation where the work day begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m., the classified employee is eligible for extra pay only for bus driving prior to 8:00 a.m. and after 4:00 p.m.

- Only emergency absences are allowed before or after a holiday when students are in the building.
- We also ask that you have detailed lesson plans with all needed materials for your substitute.
- Any late arrival to school must be communicated to the principal and a member of your team. Notify the principal by calling and/or texting 252-908-0604 (cell) or 252-446-2031 (school). When you arrive to school, please check in with front office staff/bookkeeper.
- No employee is to leave the school grounds during the contractual day without consulting with the principal.
- State regulations specify the following legitimate reasons for employee absences.
1. Personal illness
2. Illness of a member of the employee’s immediate family who requires the personal attention of the employee
3. Death of a near relative
4. Attendance at a professional meeting that has been approved by the principal
5. Personal leave (Must notify the principal at least 5 days in advance)

- Put the absence in AESOP immediately. This must be the first step you take, because it can often be challenging to find a substitute teacher on short-notice. If you wait to enter the absence, it's likely your colleagues will have to cover your classes during their planning periods (something we'd like to limit!)
- After you've entered the absence, call or text Ms. O'Meara - 252-908-0604 or 315-416-9360 and email Ms. Southerland with your lesson plans.
