Staff Dress: Professional dress is required of all staff. See ECPS Board Policy 7340 for detailed information. A good rule to follow: dress as you’d want to be seen if the superintendent and school board walked into your room. If in doubt, don’t wear it. Please also be mindful of our student dress code; it is up to us to model professionalism for our students. If they can't wear it, then you should not either (ex: shorts or skirts that go above the knee).
ECPS “Spirit Days”: Jeans and a Phillips t-shirt, college t-shirt, or shirt that affirms identity may be worn on Fridays. If you plan to wear jeans, you must donate $2 per week or $20 for the semester to the United Way in the fall and to Relay for Life in the spring.
Communication: If you are unsure about a choice a colleague made or question a decision, talk to them. Ask questions. Seek to understand. Make suggestions for how to do better next time. This is the only way we get better together.
Be on time: Be to school on time. Get to meetings on time. If we expect students to be on time to class, we must expect the same of ourselves. Use the motto: "To be early is to be on time. To be on time is to be late. To be late is unacceptable."
Cell phones: Cell phones should be used during planning or lunch periods only, with the exception of using them for the classroom (like class dojo) and emergencies. Again, if we expect students to put their phones away during class unless for instructional use, we must do the same.
