Transition Expectations
1. Rights Side of the Hallway
2. No Standing/No Stopping
3. No bathroom or water breaks
4. Teachers monitoring hallways & keeping students out of the bathroom
5. Teachers are positively & lovingly encouraging students to move along
Hall Passes
We will follow a 10/10 rule - no students out of class the first 10 minutes nor the last 10 minutes

Hall Passes
We will follow a 10/10 rule - no students out of class the first 10 minutes nor the last 10 minutes
- Teachers can use post-its, notecards or recycles paper to write notes for students in the hallway. It must include:
- Student name
- Destination
- Time
- Teacher signature (& teacher name if signature if signature is not legible)
- Teacher communicates return time to student before they leave
Bathroom Use
- Teachers must create their own system for student bathroom use to monitor it and ensure students are not avoiding class
- Teachers must create some limit to bathroom use (minimum of 5 in a quarter) and determine how they will track it
- Doctors Notes are exceptions; these students should be able to use the restroom when they need to. If it becomes excessive, the teacher should let the nurse know so she can follow up with the student and their family.

Hand Signals
3 fingers--tissue
Crossed Fingers--Bathroom
Hand Raise--to be acknowledged or permission to leave seat.
- Teacher standing at the door, monitoring both the hallway and classroom and greeting/welcoming students
- Level 1 Voice
- 2 minute timer: unpack, sharpen pencils, turn in forms, get books, be in seat, etc.
- *Class-wide Incentive for being on task
- Immediately start Warm-Up/Do Now
- Note: do not line students up in the hallway before entering if your classroom is empty. Teach students over and over and over again the procedure for entering the classroom.
Exiting the classroom
- Exit Ticket
- Last 3 minutes--Level 1 Voice, pack up, debrief, transition on time
